Uruguay

How wonderful it is to look back on those years when our hearts are most impressionable.

I was only 16 when Alvaro Recoba, in a stunning display of raw talent, scored two unforgettable goals during his Inter debut. Two screamers from the young talent from Montevideo were more than enough to turn a teenager into a fervent admirer of Uruguay. This was only the beginning of my connection with this beautiful country, which was eventually enriched by works of literary giants such as Galeano and Mario Benedetti, whose poems still resonate deeply with me. The film "El Lado Oscuro del Corazon" captivated me so much that I watched it countless times.  I was, and continue to be, in awe of the legendary Pepe Mujica and his inspiring leadership. Additionally, the music of Jorge Drexler, NTVG, Agarrate Catalina, Tabare Cardozo and the exuberant rhythms of Murga y Candombe all enchanted me with their unique sounds. However, it was my life-altering road trip through Uruguay that transformed my admiration into a profound and intimate connection to this magical country.

“Que lindo que era verlos caminando, un alma sola dividida en dos, la orilla de ese mar los encantaba, quedaba todo quieto alrededor”

No te rindas que la vida es eso, continuar el viaje, perseguir tus sueños, destrabar el tiempo, correr los escombros y destapar el cielo

-Mario Benedetti
